Unusual wedding venues in Scotland | Ravensheugh Log Cabin

WHY CHOOSE RAVENSHEUGH LOG CABIN FOR YOUR WEDDING?

Ravensheugh log cabin is a clifftop location beside the woods, high above the beach. It has panoramic views of the Bass Rock, May Island and Firth of Forth. There's on site camping for guests. All that aside, here are three incredibly convincing reasons heralding the virtues of this east coast gem.

1. A DIY VENUE FOR THE PURIST

The 12th Earl of Haddington arranged the construction of the beach log cabin in traditional Canadian style for his lovely wife in 1960. He wanted to remind her of her native Canada. They spent many happy hours up high above the sands of Ravensheugh. The same log cabin site can be customised + decorated to suit your style. There's no end to the direction this venue can be taken. It's a spot that can be adapted to suit a range of budgets. Very little is off limit here.

2. CLIFF + BEACH

It’s a win-win option. Ravensheugh Log Cabin is located at the top of a cliff which overlooks the Firth of Forth. These views are remarkable in their own right before bringing a wedding into the mix. If you’re happy to take 7 minutes to walk down to the beach below, your efforts will be rewarded . It’s a sprawling, usually quiet beach, which has a great deal of variation for photo backdrops as well as providing couples an ideal spot to steal away for a few minutes from the wedding celebrations above.

3. FESTIVAL PARTY

Wedding parties at Ravensheugh have a genuine festival feel about them. It comes into its own at night. As soon as the sun goes down, your choice of lighting can bring a whole other quality of life + atmosphere to this cracking east coast gem. From camp fires to forest fairy lights, there's no end of festival vibe options. Couples hosting their wedding here only need imagination and creative wherewithal to design an unforgettable wedding day experience.

Whether you want to get married in an industrial space, by the sea or hidden away in the Scottish wilderness, it's all possible here.  Scottish law allows you to marry anywhere. Yes. Remember, Humanist ceremonies aren't legally binding in England.  Scottish law also allows you to get married WHENEVER you want, though it helps if there's some basic infrastructure in place. Whilst weddings in the rest of the UK have to take place between 8am and 6pm, they don't in Scotland. HOW THIS GUIDE WORKS?
