Where are you based and where do you travel to?
I’m based in Scotland and photograph weddings and legacy gatherings across the country, including venues like Gleneagles, The Fife Arms in Braemar, Achnagairn Castle, Thirlstane Castle in the Borders. I regularly work throughout Scotland and beyond, and I’m always happy to travel wherever your plans take you — worldwide included.
How would you describe your photography style?
My work as a blend of editorial and documentary wedding photography. I focus on capturing things as they naturally unfold, while also creating relaxed, beautifully composed portraits that feel effortless and true to you.
The result is imagery that feels both considered and honest, with a strong sense of atmosphere and light.
WE’RE LAST MINUTE WITH OUR PLANNING. ARE YOU BOOKED UP YEARS AHEAD?
Over-planning isn’t really my thing. My diary opens around 18 months in advance, but I always keep space for more spontaneous celebrations. If you’re planning something on a shorter timeline — even a few weeks out — it’s always worth getting in touch. Some of my favourite weddings have come together that way.
CAN WE PRINT OUR PHOTOS?
Yes — you’ll receive full personal printing and sharing rights from Harper Scott Photo, so you’re free to print your images as you wish. You’ll also have access to a private online gallery where you can order fine art prints directly. It’s beautifully simple and saves a lot of time.
What kind of couples do you usually work with?
Most of my couples are drawn to a more relaxed way of doing things, but still care about style and the overall feel of their day. They’re often creative, detail-focused, and looking for photography and film that feels natural yet thoughtfully composed.
WHAT’S YOUR PRICING?
I photograph everything from intimate two-hour elopements to multi-day celebrations at venues like Gleneagles and The Fife Arms. Every wedding is different, so I offer flexible, hourly coverage. This allows you to shape a personal photography and film experience, reflective of your plans.
OUR PARENTS WOULD LOVE SOME GROUP PHOTOS, BUT WE’RE NOT REALLY INTO THAT…
Completely understood. I keep group photographs relaxed and efficient to allow you to return to your day as quickly as possible.
I’ll keep things moving, keep it light, and make sure everyone looks their best — without it ever feeling like a production.
We’re looking for something that feels natural but still looks polished—do you guide us?
Absolutely. I’ll gently guide you when needed, particularly during portraits, but nothing will feel forced or overly posed. The intention is always to keep things feeling easy while creating images that feel refined, considered, and entirely you.
WE’D PREFER TO KEEP THINGS PRIVATE — IS THAT POSSIBLE?
Of course. Some of my clients prefer to remain completely private, and I fully respect that. NDAs are absolutely fine, and we can agree image usage (or no usage) in advance of your wedding.
CAN YOU CREATE A WEDDING ALBUM FOR US?
Yes — I offer a unique art-zine, exclusive to Harper Scott clients. This is a design led print piece using archival-quality materials, designed to last for generations.
There’s also a range of fine art prints, folios, and beautifully finished pieces. We’ll work together to create something that feels right for you.
