Ravensheugh Log Cabin >> Beach | Alternative Wedding Photography
Ravensheugh Log Cabin is a remarkable wedding venue: it's on a cliff side, by the beach and with its own private woodland. Let's not forget about those panoramic views along the east coast stretching from Bass Rock, May Island and Firth of Forth. All of the nature stuff aside, it's worth emphasising the incredible versatility of this spot. It can be dressed up or down depending on the tone and atmosphere you want to create. It suits folks looking to arrange a small wedding as well as a large wedding.

"Our ceremony will take place on the beach and will be followed by a festival themed reception".
That's how Robyn + Jordan pitched their wedding to me in their initial enquiry. I was hooked. I'd heard great things about Ravensheugh + the area. Their plans sounded like a perfect combination of an awesome venue, relaxed couple + Scotland at its best.
After a few emails back + forth, Robyn + Jordan were quick to book me. I was over the moon! Working with them didn't feel like work. They were a dream from beginning to end. Jordan + Robyn's priority was to create a wedding truly reflective of them. They wanted a relaxed day full of personalised details. What they organised was bang on the money...
It's always risky planning an outdoors wedding in Scotland. It's Scotland. It rains a great deal here. We lucked out. The sun shone for the entirety of their wedding day. The. Full. Day. Their original plan for a beach ceremony altered slightly as they opted for a cliffside ceremony before wandering down to the beach with their bridal party. One trip wasn't quite enough. Jordan + Robyn went back for sunset, accompanied by me. Taking around 20 minutes to enjoy a little time together on their own before heading back for their party was well worth it. They were able to disconnect from the rollercoaster of events and begin to reflect on things so far. I didn't intrude on this time together; I gave them their space and in doing so, they were themselves. In being themselves, I was able to capture incredibly peaceful portraits of the couple.
It wasn't long before the pace wound back up. Robyn + Jordan got into party mode quickly, as did their guests. The dance floored was packed in the best way possible. This was a wedding party I was reluctant to leave.
